Make a WebP download usable in JPG-only workflows
WebP is common on websites because it can store photos efficiently, but downloaded WebP files are still rejected by some upload fields and older applications. This tool creates a conventional JPG copy using the browser's decoded image.
The conversion is lossy and JPG cannot preserve transparency. Transparent WebP areas are composited onto white. If the image is a logo, icon, or cutout with transparent edges, PNG is normally the better destination.
Transparent pixels are placed over white because JPG has no alpha channel.
WebP often stores comparable photo quality more efficiently than JPG.
Match the destination to the image, not only the required extension
Use JPG for opaque photographs. Use PNG for transparent WebP graphics or when a lossless working copy is more important than output size.
Checks before downloading
- Check transparent edges before downloading; a white background may be visible around the subject.
- Compare the output at normal viewing size and at zoom before lowering quality further.
- Keep the WebP source if it is already the smaller web-ready version.
Questions
Are my images uploaded to ImgMini?
No. ImgMini runs the conversion in your browser. The selected files stay on your device unless you choose to share them elsewhere.
Does this keep transparency?
No. JPG has no alpha channel. Transparent areas are placed on a white background.
